Whitemark has many sides, from local art and island history to time by the water and outdoor activities. If you’re looking for accommodation in Whitemark, you can choose your focus based on whether culture, time by the water, walks or golf matter most to you. The experiences on offer take you to different places and activities, from works by local artists to a five-kilometre return walk along the foreshore.

Art and island history

The community art gallery in Whitemark exhibits and sells local works. It brings together two interests: viewing art from the area and purchasing a piece.

Bowman’s History Room offers a different perspective on island life. Founded in 1921, it displays photographs, shop items and business ledgers from the E.M. Bowman & Co. store; it also documents the store’s role in island life for more than a century. The various materials bring together images, goods and business records, illustrating the store’s long history through tangible evidence.

Water and time outdoors

Whitemark Foreshore Picnic BBQ Area on Whitemark Esplanade has a beach, a covered gas barbecue and picnic tables. The water at the beach is shallow and suitable for children.

You can swim in the warm waters of Parrys Bay. At sunset, you can fish from the jetty in Whitemark. The two options differ in activity and time of day: swimming in the warm bay or fishing from the jetty at the end of the day.

Walks and golf

The Bluff Track is a five-kilometre return walk along the foreshore to Bluff Road. The stated distance covers the full return route, making it easier to plan your day. The Bluff Track Fitness Trail can be walked and was formerly known as The Whitemark to Pats River Walk.
