Jurien Bay has a natural character that stretches from the sea to the heathland. The Jurien Bay Marine Park, a sealed coastal trail and nearby nature destinations give a trip a range of different focuses. When planning a trip, you can make the coastal route, plant life, views or a special activity experience the main focus.

Marine Nature in Jurien Bay Marine Park

Jurien Bay Marine Park covers the marine waters between Wedge and Green Head and extends about 5.5 kilometres offshore. The park is home to the only breeding area for Australian sea lions on Australia's west coast. This distinctive feature gives the marine environment a clear natural character and is a notable aspect for travellers interested in coastal and wildlife experiences. The natural setting of Jurien Bay therefore begins not with a general idea of beach and sea, but with a clearly named protected area and its special significance for sea lions.

The Turquoise Way Trail along the Coast

The sealed Turquoise Way Trail runs for 14.2 kilometres from Jurien Bay Marina along the coast to the mouth of the Hill River. Its route gives this stretch of coastline a clear framework: the starting point, route and destination are all specified. In the foreshore area of Dobbyn Park, the trail passes picnic areas, gazebos, public toilets, beach access, playgrounds, an outdoor fitness area, an outdoor shower and drinking fountains. This section therefore connects the trail with specific opportunities to take a break or get some exercise. If these facilities are important to your plans, briefly check their current condition before visiting, as facilities can change.

Wildflowers and Heathland near Jurien Bay

Another natural highlight lies near Jurien Bay: Lesueur National Park is a wildflower destination with more than 900 known plant species. Its botanical diversity distinguishes it from the marine nature of the Marine Park. The nearby Yued Ponar Walk Trail also passes through a landscape of its own: the 7.1-kilometre walking trail crosses species-rich Kwongan heathland to the summit of Mount Peron and offers views of the park. Here, plant life is accompanied by a specific walking route with a named destination. Trail conditions and seasonal hazards can change; check them before setting out.

The two trails are easy to distinguish by their length and landscapes: at 14.2 kilometres, the Turquoise Way Trail is exactly twice as long as the 7.1-kilometre Yued Ponar Walk Trail. They also feature different natural themes: the first trail focuses on the coastal route and Dobbyn Park foreshore, while the other features Kwongan heathland, Mount Peron and views of the park. This comparison can help you choose the focus of your outing based on the landscape and stated trail length.

A Special Activity Experience

Alongside coastal trails and nature destinations, Skydive Jurien Bay offers a different kind of experience. The company has been providing high-quality tandem skydiving experiences since 2009. A tandem skydive tour includes a landing on Jurien Bay's white beach. This offers a clearly defined activity experience alongside the focus on nature and trails.
