Eagle Bay: Coast, Trails and Good Food
Accommodation in Eagle Bay
Eagle Bay is a small coastal town at the tip of Cape Naturaliste. It combines a broad beach with water activities, a coastal trail lined with wildflowers and several culinary stops. You can plan your stay around different interests: swimming and water activities, walking, diving, or food and tastings. Its coastal setting is only part of what makes Eagle Bay a destination.
Beach and Water Activities
North-facing Eagle Bay Beach has a broad sandy shore with shallow, calm water for swimming. Near Point Piquet, the beach is also suitable for kayaking, snorkelling, photography and picnicking. This mix gives you options for planning a beach visit: you can focus on the water, the coastline or a picnic break. The northern section of Eagle Bay Beach is dog-friendly at the Eagle Bay Boat Ramp; follow the local signage there.
Coastal Trail, Wildflowers and Diving
The Meelup Regional Park Coastal Trail ends in Eagle Bay. Walking west along the coastal trail through Meelup Reserve towards Eagle Bay, you can see Spider, Donkey, Enamel, Mustard and Jug orchids, as well as the rare Dunsborough Orchids. This gives a walk along the coast a botanical focus, too. The HMAS Swan dive wreck is located in Eagle Bay and is connected to an artificial reef that supports diverse marine life. The coastal trail and dive wreck offer different perspectives on nature: wildflowers along the route and marine life on the reef.
Brewery, Wine and Olives
Eagle Bay Brewing Co is a family-run brewpub with an on-site production brewery, restaurant, garden bar and vineyard. Its offerings include craft beer, wine, local produce and fresh dishes; brewery lunches and late-afternoon drinks are also available. The combination of brewery, vineyard and dining makes the brewpub a versatile culinary stop.
The Wise Wine estate in Eagle Bay includes a winery, distillery and restaurant. At the cellar door, tastings of small-batch wines and spirits are available without a booking.
Eagle Bay Olives is a family-run grove with 1,200 olive trees. The tasting selection in its farm shop includes olives, oils, jams, chutneys, tapenades, freshly baked bread and honey. The three venues also differ in the kind of culinary experience they offer: a restaurant and garden bar at a brewery, small-batch tastings at a cellar door, or a selection in a farm shop. If food is an important part of your trip, you can choose the format that appeals to you most.
