Get to know Camdale through three specific interests: the reef-shaped coast along the Cam River, the shape of Camdale Beach and Burnie Golf Club, which welcomes visitors. You can start planning your trip by choosing between exploring the coast and playing golf; Camdale Point adds views of the water from the Bass Highway. The beach is defined by the estuary, reef and a section that runs east, while the club is characterised by its number of holes, par and weekly activities.

Camdale Beach at the estuary

Camdale Beach begins at the reef point on the eastern edge of the Cam River estuary, which is 50 metres wide. The beach is initially sheltered from the wind by the reef; it then runs 1.4 kilometres east to another reef-bound headland. The measurements refer to different dimensions: 50 metres is the width of the estuary, while 1.4 kilometres is the eastward stretch of beach.

The Burnie City Council counts Camdale Beach among Burnie’s best public swimming beaches. Surf Life Saving Australia does not currently provide services at the beach. If swimming is part of your plans, check the current conditions before entering the water.

Golf in Camdale

Burnie Golf Club in Camdale has a 9-hole course with a par of 72 and welcomes visitors. The club holds weekly competitions and social golf events. The number of holes gives you a clear idea of the course; par 72 provides additional information about its standard. If you would like to include golf in your stay, ask in advance about a date that suits your trip.

Camdale Point and the coast

Camdale Point offers travellers on the Bass Highway some views of the water. Vegetation and visibility along the road can change. A footpath and steps connect Camdale Point to Scarfe Street in Camdale. If you would like to use this connection, check the conditions on site.
