Perisher Valley combines the perspective of a large alpine ski resort with vivid landscape scenes: the cross-country trails of the Perisher Valley Range pass ghostly-looking snow gums, while the Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley Walk offers views of high-country plains and snow-covered mountain ranges. Between the resort, snow play and trails through Kosciuszko National Park, you can shape your trip around different priorities.

An alpine resort with four areas

Perisher is the largest alpine resort in the Southern Hemisphere. Perisher Ski Resort consists of four distinct resort areas, and Perisher Valley is one of them. Across the resort, there are more than 100 groomed runs, 45 lifts and four snow parks. These figures describe the resort as a whole, not Perisher Valley alone. Since the number of runs and lifts, as well as the configuration of the snow parks, can change, check the latest resort information before your visit.

Snow experiences for families

Perisher has a dedicated area for children and families to toboggan and play in the snow. It offers a different way to spend a winter’s day from the resort’s runs and snow parks. Operations depend on daily snow and weather conditions, so factor the latest conditions into your plans for the day.

The cross-country trails of the Perisher Valley Range also offer something different. They wind through scenic landscapes and past the distinctive snow gums. Alongside the resort’s facilities, these trails make the alpine landscape itself an essential part of the experience.

Walking trails and alpine scenery

The Snowies Alpine Walk links the alpine locations of Guthega, Perisher Valley and Charlotte Pass. Trail conditions are seasonal. The Charlotte Pass Village to Perisher Valley Walk links Charlotte Pass Village and Perisher Valley, passing through alpine valleys and the rugged landscapes of Kosciuszko National Park. Views along the trail include high-country plains, snow-covered mountain ranges and clear-flowing rivers. In winter, snow can affect the route; check current trail conditions if you plan to walk it.

The short, family-friendly Porcupine Walk is near Perisher in Kosciuszko National Park. The Rock Creek Snowshoe Track offers a different kind of route: it starts in Perisher Village, passes through a treeless frost hollow alongside Rock Creek, then follows a loop through open snow gum forest. Snow and seasonal access can affect this winter route; check conditions in advance.

Getting there and seasonal planning

From Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal, the Skitube provides a safe and easy ten-minute connection to Perisher Valley. Operating hours and fares may change, so it is worth checking the timetable and prices before you travel. From Jindabyne, follow Kosciuszko Road to Perisher. Park entry fees apply. Road conditions and possible closures can change, so check before setting out.

Also note the seasonal closure of the Perisher Valley to Bullocks Flat Walk: it is closed in winter, between June and October, because it crosses cross-country ski trails. If you plan to take this route at another time of year, check the latest weather and trail management notices.

Find accommodation to suit your itinerary

When looking for a hotel or other accommodation, your plans for each day are a useful starting point. Consider whether you want to focus on the resort areas, a snow day with children or trails through the alpine landscape.
